What does a Special Education Advocate do?
A special education advocate assists families of children with learning disabilities by ensuring that children receive appropriate services and accommodations, interpreting evaluations, communicating with school staff, representing the child's needs during IEP meetings, and testifies as an expert in due process hearings.
What type of education must a Special Education Advocate have?
Our special education advocates must have a bachelor's degree or higher in special education or a related field, such as psychology, social work, or speech-language pathology.
What kind of experience must I have to be a Special Education Advocate?
A background in developing and/or implementing IEPs, attending IEP meetings, diagnosing or recommending evaluations for various disabilities, and reviewing evaluations.
