Ms. Johnson is originally from Jacksonville, Florida. She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology from the University of North Florida in 2012, and a law degree from Howard University School of Law in 2017. Ms. Johnson has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since December of 2017, and a member of the District of Columbia Bar since June of 2018. Before attending law school, Ms. Johnson case managed homeless women and children, and advocated for improving the quality of public education in Jacksonville, Florida as a Community Advisory Team Member for the Jacksonville Public Education Fund.
During her time in law school, Ms. Johnson was the Co-Captain and Business Manager of the Charles Hamilton Houston National Moot Court Team, President of the Education Law Society, and the Founder and Coach of a debate team at Francis Scott Key Middle School in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Before founding E. Marie Law, Ms. Johnson litigated education, child welfare, and family law cases in the Metro Atlanta area and in Washington D.C. While practicing special education law in Washington, D.C., Ms. Johnson quickly realized that her education advocacy would have to address the children’s home environment for children to truly thrive academically. Accordingly, she began practicing child welfare and family law and became frustrated with the lack of child-centered advocacy from the adults involved in these proceedings.
Ms. Johnson was inspired to start E. Marie Law to encourage parents to be mature, resolution-focused, logical, and child-centered as they navigate legal matters involving the lives of children.
Ms. Johnson is passionate about whole-child centered advocacy and looks forward to zealously advocating for the health of your family and the well-being of your children.
